Attila Fellinger

Talk Title: Thermodynamics of Liquid Chromatography

Attila Felinger is a Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of Pécs (Hungary). He is the head of the Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Department at the Faculty of Sciences, and he is at the helm of the Institute of Bioanalysis at the Medical School (both at the University of Pécs). In addition, he serves as President of the Hungarian Society for Separation Sciences.

He graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Veszprém (Hungary) and obtained his PhD in analytical chemistry in 1988 from the same university. In 2016 he was elected as a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. His research interests focus on the fundamentals of chromatography including nonlinear and analytical separations, as well as the chemometric analysis of analytical measurements.

Attila Felinger has published more than 160 scientific papers, seven book chapters; he is the author of two books. He serves on the Editorial Board of Chromatographia, and LC-GC Europe. In 2013 and in 2015 he was named as one of the 100 most influential analytical scientists in the world (The Analytical Scientist Power List). He has received several national and international awards in recognition of his work: Széchenyi Prize, 2018; Albert Szent-Györgyi Award, 2016; J. F. K. Huber Name Lecture Award (Austrian Society of Analytical Chemistry), 2014; Győző Bruckner Award, (Hungarian Academy of Sciences), 2013; Prof. Andrzej Waksmundzki Medal Award, (Polish Academy of Sciences), 2012; Academy Prize (Hungarian Academy of Sciences), 2009.
